Secunderabad Railway Station, which sees the daily operation of around 50 pairs of trains, is undergoing major construction work. As part of this, six pairs of trains have been permanently shifted to the Charlapalli Terminal, while 28 pairs of trains are being temporarily rerouted through other stations.
With platform closures planned for 118 days, starting with six platforms and proceeding two at a time, the schedules for 60 pairs of trains are being modified.
The South Central Railway has outlined plans to shift 20 trains to Charlapalli Terminal, 4 to Malkajgiri, 2 each to Hyderabad (Nampally) and Kacheguda, with Undanagar also receiving some rerouted trains.
Charlapalli Terminal, which previously handled a single train daily and catered to thousands of passengers, is now experiencing a gradual increase in passenger numbers. Key trains being rerouted to Charlapalli include Tirupati-Adilabad, Lingampalli-Kakinada Town, Kazipet-Hadapsar, Lingampalli-Visakhapatnam, and more. In addition to these changes, some trains will now have Charlapalli as an additional stoppage.
For example, the Secunderabad-Sirpur Kagaznagar and Guntur-Secunderabad trains will halt here, potentially bringing up to 80,000 passengers to the terminal. However, despite the terminal’s operational status, a fully developed approach road remains unavailable. Passengers have raised concerns about accessibility, as they have to take detours to reach the station. Rerouting of trains
