Secunderabad Rly Station redevelopment: Six platforms shut down temporarily

Secunderabad Railway Station has temporarily closed six platforms as part of an extensive modernization project aimed at enhancing passenger facilities. The closure, which is expected to continue for several months, has impacted train schedules, leading to diversions and adjustments in services.

To manage disruptions, the South Central Railway (SCR) has rerouted multiple trains to nearby stations, including Cherlapalli, Kacheguda, and Hyderabad’s Nampally Railway Station. Cherlapalli, in particular, is expected to handle additional train operations to ease congestion at Secunderabad.

The redevelopment work involves the construction of a large two-storied sky concourse equipped with modern amenities such as elevators, escalators, food courts, and waiting lounges. Additionally, a heavy-duty crane is being installed between two platforms, requiring structural reinforcements and temporary adjustments at the site.

Railway authorities have assured travelers that every effort is being made to minimize inconvenience. While the temporary closure is causing disruptions, officials emphasize that the modernization will significantly improve passenger experiences once completed. The upgraded facilities are expected to make Secunderabad Railway Station a world-class transit hub with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
