KOTA (RAJASTHAN): Nandini Gupta, a 23-year-old from Kota, Rajasthan, won national acclaim when she was crowned Femina Miss India World 2023. Her path- from a farming family to the global stage at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Hyderabad—was one of resilience and determination. Although she fell short of securing the Miss World crown, her journey remains an inspiration.
Humble Beginnings and Family Support
Born in September 2003, Nandini grew up in a modest home, deeply connected to Rajasthani traditions. Her father, Sumit Gupta, an organic farmer, and her mother, Rekha Gupta, provided unwavering support. Raised alongside her sister Ananya, Nandini overcame societal pressures that often limit young girls’ dreams. Her parents emphasized education, ensuring she balanced academics with ambition. After excelling at St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School in Kota, she pursued business management at Lala Lajpat Rai College in Mumbai.
The Road to Miss India
A childhood dream fueled Nandini’s aspirations. Inspired by Priyanka Chopra at age 10, she cultivated her passion through local modeling contests, including a campaign for Orra Jewellery. In 2023, she won the Miss Rajasthan title and secured a spot in the prestigious Femina Miss India pageant. On April 15, 2023, she triumphed over 29 contestants to claim the national crown, proving that persistence pays off.
Miss World and the Lessons Learned
Representing India at the Miss World pageant was a moment of pride. She focused on promoting Kota’s handloom industry, particularly Kota Doriya, to uplift artisans. However, despite her dedication and poise, she did not secure the crown amid fierce global competition. Still, her grace and advocacy earned admiration, proving that success isn’t defined by titles alone.
Beyond the Crown
Nandini remains committed to empowerment and the arts. As she prepares for a possible Bollywood debut, she carries forward her message: “Rise every time you fall.” Her journey, from the fields of Kota to the international stage, continues to inspire a nation.
