Hyderabad: Missing success narrowly, just with ‘one mark’ can be incredibly tough, it stings to come so close and yet fall short. It is important to remember that such moments are not failures. In a heartbreaking revelation, nearly 1.85 lakh students across the state of Telangamna failed to qualify in the intermediate examinations, falling short by just one mark, according to sources. Many of these students missed success in one subject, while others struggled in two.

The challenging Mathematics – 2B paper further aggravated the situation, with students claiming it was tougher than anticipated and did not yield the marks they had hoped for. While these top achievers set benchmarks, the plight of 1.85 lakh students remains the focal point.

Educators and parents are urging the Intermediate Board to consider the granting of just one grace mark, particularly for those who fell short by a single mark. This move could transform the lives of thousands and allow them to pursue higher education without unnecessary obstacles.

The suggestion echoes similar practices in other states where students who narrowly miss qualification are provided grace marks under specific conditions. Advocates argue that such a policy would be a compassionate and practical approach in addressing the frustrations faced by students and their families.

Several public figures and educators, have voiced concerns and highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent.   A prominent educationist, Ravi Kumar- popularly Known as Raussels Ravi Kumar said the call for grace marks is not just about numbers.

It is about recognizing the effort and dedication of students who came close to success. Four students dejected with themarks they fared ended their lives so far. It’s a chance for the Intermediate Board to step in and ensure fairness and compassion for the future generation.
