Hyderabad: A crucial pipeline stretch of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board network, which carries Manjeera water from Singur to Hyderabad, burst at Peddapur village in Sadasivapet mandal on Friday evening.
The rupture caused water to gush onto the National Highway-65, bringing traffic to a standstill on one side of the road. Alert passersby reported the issue, prompting swift action from Mission Bhagiratha officials, who immediately halted the water supply from Singur to contain the situation.
Authorities stated that it might take several hours to stop the leakage entirely at the affected location. The disruption is expected to impact drinking water supply in certain areas of Hyderabad over the next few days while repair work on the damaged pipeline is underway.
