Hyderabad: A disturbing incident has come to light in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills area, where a 28-year-old woman has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor boy multiple times. The case, reported under the jurisdiction of the Jubilee Hills Police Station, has shocked the local community and raised concerns about child safety.
According to police reports, the accused, a resident of Jubilee Hills, befriended the minor boy, who lived in her neighborhood. She allegedly lured him to her residence under false pretenses and subjected him to repeated sexual assaults. The woman is said to have coerced the boy with threats, warning him that she would falsely accuse him of rape if he disclosed the abuse to anyone. Frightened by her intimidation, the boy remained silent for a prolonged period.
The situation escalated recently when the woman allegedly assaulted the boy again and forced him to engage in inappropriate acts. Unable to bear the ongoing harassment, the minor confided in his parents, revealing the traumatic ordeal he had endured for months. His parents immediately approached the Jubilee Hills Police Station and lodged a complaint against the accused.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to uncover the full extent of the abuse and the circumstances surrounding the case. The accused woman has been taken into custody, and the police are continuing their probe to ensure justice for the victim.
This incident has highlighted the rising number of POCSO cases in Hyderabad, with the city reporting 449 such cases in 2024, up from 371 in 2023, according to the Hyderabad City Police’s annual report. Authorities are urging parents to maintain open communication with their children and report any suspicious behavior promptly to prevent such heinous crimes.
The identity of the victim has been withheld to protect his privacy, in accordance with Supreme Court directives on cases involving sexual assault.
