India and Pakistan agreed to full and immediate ceasefire: Trump

US President Donald Trump announced via a post on Truth Social that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following US-mediated talks. This claim was reported by multiple sources, including Bloomberg, The Economic Times, and LiveMint.

However, as of the latest updates, there has been no official confirmation from the Indian government, and some sources, such as LiveMint, note that confirmation is still awaited. Posts on X also reflect this announcement, but they similarly lack independent verification from Indian or Pakistani authorities.

Given the absence of official confirmation from India and the ongoing nature of the situation, the claim remains unverified. Both countries have been engaged in heightened tensions following India’s “Operation Sindoor” strikes on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, and Pakistan’s retaliatory actions. The lack of a joint statement or official acknowledgment from either nation suggests caution in accepting the ceasefire claim as definitive at this stage.
