Vijay Deverakonda Booked Under Charges of Offending Tribal Sentiments

Tollywood star VijayDeverakonda faces legal scrutiny after an FIR was lodged against him at Raidurgam Police Station on June 17, 2025, for allegedly derogatory remarks against tribal communities. The complaint, filed by Nenavath Ashok Kumar Naik, State President of the, Tribal joint action committee accuses the actor of insulting Adivasis during the Retro pre-release event on April 26, 2025, at Hyderabad’s JRC Convention Centre.

Naik alleges Deverakonda compared tribals to “Pakistani terrorists” and claimed they were “beaten 500 years ago” due to a lack of “intelligence and common sense,” remarks tied to a discussion on a Kashmir terror attack .

The comments sparked outrage, leading to a case under the SC/ST prevention of Atrocities. Deverakonda issued an apology on May 3, clarifying his use of “tribe” referred to historical clans, not Scheduled Tribes, and expressed regret for any hurt caused. However, tribal groups deemed the apology inadequate.
