Hyderabad: Indian Muslim leaders like Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), have expressed strong support for India’s strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Following India’s launch of “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, Owaisi emphasized that Pakistan must be held accountable for harboring terrorist organizations responsible for attacks on Indian soil. He stated that India’s security concerns transcend political and religious lines, reinforcing the idea that all Indians stand united against terrorism.
Owaisi praised the Indian Armed Forces for their swift response to the deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians. He asserted that terrorist outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba should not be allowed to operate freely and that decisive action was necessary to dismantle their infrastructure. His statement reflects a broad consensus among Indian leaders, who have largely backed the military operation as a justified response to cross-border terrorism.
Political analysts note that Owaisi’s remarks signal a rare moment of unity in India’s political landscape, where leaders across party lines have voiced their support for national security measures. His comments highlight the principle that India’s sovereignty must be protected irrespective of differences in ideology or religious identity.
As tensions continue to rise between India and Pakistan, Owaisi’s stand reinforces the idea that India’s fight against terrorism is a collective effort. His statement, along with reactions from various political leaders, underscores a shared commitment to national security. With Pakistan promising retaliation, the focus now shifts to diplomatic channels as both nations navigate the aftermath of the strikes.
