U.S. Airstrikes Shatter Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Igniting Global Crisis

The United States has reportedly entered the Israel-Iran conflict by conducting airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities- Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan- on June 21, 2025, marking a significant escalation. President Donald Trump announced the strikes, claiming they “completely obliterated” Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity, aiming to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The operation involved B-2 stealth bombers and bunker-busting bombs, particularly targeting the heavily fortified Fordo site.

Isreal Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu praised the U.S. action, while Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah AliKhamenei and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned of severe retaliation, with Araghchi stating U.S. involvement risks “all-out war.” Iran has reported over 400 deaths from Israeli strikes, with its missile attacks killing 24 in Israel. U.S. involvement has sparked domestic and international debate. Some #MAGA supporters back the strikes but oppose ground troop deployment, while critics, including Rep.

Thomas Massie and CAIR, argue the action lacks constitutional approval and risks wider conflict. Polls show Americans oppose U.S. airstrikes by a 20-point margin. The conflict, ongoing since Israel’s initial attack on June 13, 2025, has raised fears of regional destabilization, with Hamas and Houthi rebels condemning the U.S. moves.

Diplomacy efforts have stalled, with Iran refusing negotiations amid ongoing attacks. No official declaration of war by the U.S. has been reported, and Trump has emphasized avoiding ground forces. The situation remains volatile, with potential for further escalation depending on Iran’s response.
