Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy awarded a cash prize of ₹1 crore each to nine individuals who played a crucial role in the Telangana statehood movement. The announcement was made during the Telangana Talli statue unveiling ceremony, recognizing poets, artists, and literary figures who left a lasting impact on the movement.
During the State Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds, the Chief Minister personally handed over the awards to several recipients. Among those honored were Ekka Yadagiri Rao, Ande Sri, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraju, and Pasham Yadagiri, all of whom contributed significantly through their artistic and literary works.
The families of late Guda Anjaiah, Gaddar, and Bandi Yadagiri received the awards on behalf of the departed icons, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the movement. Additionally, Goreti Venkanna, who is currently abroad, was represented by his daughter, who accepted the award on his behalf.
The initiative underscores the Telangana government’s commitment to honoring those who shaped the state’s identity and fought for its formation. The awards serve as a tribute to their dedication and influence in mobilizing public sentiment during the struggle for statehood.
