Bijapur (Chhattisgarh): Gunfire continues to echo through South Bastar as security forces intensify their offensive against Maoists. Following the Abujhmad encounter, which resulted in the death of 27 Naxalites, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao, forces launched another operation in the Shida forests of Bijapur district on Thursday.
The latest encounter, still ongoing, has already claimed multiple Maoist casualties. Security forces have reportedly taken control of the forest pocket, sealing all possible escape routes. This operation is unfolding near Ranibodili, the site of a deadly Maoist attack in 2007 that left 74 CRPF personnel dead.
Authorities anticipate the casualty count to rise further as the battle continues. The Inspector General of Bastar Range has confirmed the death of Nambala Keshav Rao, a claim initially met with skepticism by certain groups.
This latest offensive marks a significant escalation in the fight against Maoist insurgency, with security forces determined to dismantle remaining strongholds in the region.
