India has launched Operation Brahma to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Myanmar following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025. The earthquake caused widespread destruction, claiming hundreds of lives and leaving many injured and displaced.
As part of this operation, India dispatched a C-130J aircraft carrying approximately 15 tonnes of relief materials to Yangon. The aid package includes essential supplies such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators, and medicines. A search and rescue team, along with a medical team, accompanied the flight to assist in relief efforts.
This initiative underscores India’s commitment to acting as a first responder in the region during times of crisis. The Indian government has pledged to monitor the situation closely and provide additional support as needed. The operation is part of India’s broader “Act East” policy, aimed at strengthening ties with neighboring countries and extending support during emergencies.
The relief efforts are ongoing, with authorities coordinating with Myanmar to ensure the swift delivery of aid to affected areas. This gesture of solidarity highlights the importance of regional cooperation in addressing natural disasters and supporting recovery efforts.
