Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has unveiled a new digital initiative aimed at combating the mosquito menace in the city. The ‘Fogging on Request’ feature, now integrated into the “My GHMC” mobile app, enables citizens to request fogging services in areas plagued by mosquitoes.
Announced on Thursday, this user-friendly feature allows residents to log complaints about mosquito infestations. Upon receiving the request, an assistant entomologist will forward the task to a designated fogging worker in the area. Once the fogging is completed, a photograph with geolocation will be uploaded to confirm the resolution.
To ensure efficiency, the number of available slots will depend on staff availability. Additionally, the GHMC has incorporated measures to prevent redundant requests—once a specific area has been fogged, repeat requests for fogging will be restricted for a period of one week.
The initiative will initially undergo a pilot test at Jubilee Hills Circle to evaluate its functionality. Based on the outcomes of the pilot, the feature will be expanded city-wide to cover all GHMC zones.
This move by the GHMC is expected to provide timely relief to citizens while strengthening the city’s mosquito control efforts. With a seamless and transparent approach, the civic body aims to address public health concerns effectively. Residents are encouraged to utilize the app and report mosquito problems for prompt action.
Hyderabad is hopeful this innovative feature will significantly reduce mosquito-borne risks.
