Earthquake Epicenter Takes To Site of Massive Tree Fall

Hyderabad: A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Mulugu district in Telangana at around 7:27 AM, causing widespread tremors felt in several areas. Hyderabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Hanmakonda were among the regions in Telangana that experienced the quake. The tremors extended to parts of Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada and Jaggayyapet, lasting for about two seconds.

The epicenter of the earthquake was identified near Medaram in Mulugu district. Interestingly, this area witnessed the fall of a hundred thousand trees in a storm on September 4, just four months prior. Reports indicate minor tremors were also felt in Mancherial and Komaram Bheem districts.

Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or major damage. The National Center for Seismology confirmed the earthquake’s epicenter and depth. The sudden tremors caused alarm among residents, with many rushing out of their homes in panic.

Widespread Impact in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

In the Mailavaram constituency, similar conditions were observed. Residents in Reddigudem, Nandigama, and Kanchikacherla mandals reported slight tremors. Eluru district’s Nuzvid also experienced tremors, with locals noting that houses and buildings shook for a few seconds, prompting many to run out onto the streets in fear.

Further reports indicate that the tremors were felt in Devarapalli and Gopalapuram mandals of East Godavari district, with residents of Rajahmundry’s Tadithota and Morampudi areas also experiencing a few seconds of shaking. Additionally, Chinturu division in Alluri district, including Kunavaram, VR Puram, and Etapaka mandals, reported minor tremors.

Telangana Experiences Significant Tremors

Across Telangana, the unified Warangal district experienced tremors, with residents in Warangal city and surrounding areas reporting shaking. The sudden quake caused panic, with people rushing out of their homes fearing for their safety.

In Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Kothagudem town experienced a three-second tremor, which struck at 7:27 AM. Manuguru sub-division also felt the tremors for a few seconds, causing alarm among the residents.

In Mahabubabad district’s Gangaram, the tremors were severe enough to cause people to fall from chairs. Illandu town and several villages in the mandal also experienced minor tremors, prompting residents to rush out of their homes in fear.

Impact in Karimnagar and Hyderabad

Karimnagar’s Vidyanagar area reported shaking, with residents feeling the tremors even while standing. Peddapalli district’s Godavarikhani, Sultanabad, Karimnagar, and Huzurabad areas also experienced minor tremors.

In Greater Hyderabad, the tremors were felt in areas like Borabanda, Rahmat Nagar, Karmik Nagar, and Yusufguda, with residents noting that the shaking lasted for a few seconds. Nalgonda district also experienced minor tremors, affecting Nalgonda town and areas like Patarlapadu, Nuthankal, and Huzurnagar in Suryapet district.
