Karregutta, a region under the Maoist dominance for long, witnessed a historic turning point as security forces successfully reclaimed control over the area after a grueling nine-day operation. Located along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, these hills- also known as the “Black Hills”-had been part o the Maoist stronghold spanning nearly 180 square kilometers.
Thousands of security personnel, working under extreme temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius, undertook the challenging mission to neutralize Maoist influence. In the final moments of their operation, they hoisted the national flag in a significant demonstration of victory.
Drone Surveillance and Strategic Backups
The operation was bolstered by advanced surveillance tactics, including satellite imagery and drones deployed to track Maoist movements. Strategic reinforcements replaced fatigued troops to sustain the momentum of the campaign. Unconfirmed reports suggest nearly 30 Maoists were killed in fierce gun battles, but official statements are yet to verify these figures.
Meanwhile, areas such as Nandipalli and Pujari Kanker echoed with explosions earlier this week, heightening the intensity of the operation. Security forces are now preparing to establish a permanent base in the Karregutta hills to monitor and curb Maoist activities in the region. Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Deka is overseeing the operation, having held critical meetings with officials in Raipur regarding its progress.
