‘I opposed handing BRS to BJP’ even from jail’, Kavitha

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha unleashed a scathing attack on party leaders during a fiery media interaction in Hyderabad, accusing them of targeting her instead of addressing those leaking sensitive internal feedback from party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

Kavitha’s remarks exposed deep-seated tensions within BRS, as she questioned the unauthorized disclosure of a confidential six-page letter she wrote to KCR, offering feedback on his silver jubilee speech. “Why am I being targeted for calling out leakers? Is it fair to attack the daughter of the house?” she asked, alleging that some leaders were orchestrating paid social media campaigns against her instead of confronting Congress and BJP.

Kavitha expressed frustration over the silence of party leaders when KCR received notices, questioning their loyalty. “They preach morality to me while hiding their covert actions,” she said, revealing that she resisted calls to resign during the liquor case investigation on KCR’s advice.

She also claimed that some party members conspired to ensure her defeat when she contested as an MP, yet KCR appointed her as an MLC to maintain protocol. Dismissing rumors of a BRS-BJP merger, Kavitha asserted, “I opposed handing BRS to BJP lock, stock, and barrel, even from jail. BRS will remain independent.” Her remarks highlight internal challenges as she reaffirmed her loyalty to KCR and urged collective action to strengthen the party.
