Hyderabad: The much-anticipated “Tomato Battle” event is gearing up to deliver an unforgettable experience with an ample supply of tomatoes ready for action. Alongside the lively tomato festivities, attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of live DJ performances, food stalls, and dance zones, creating a carnival-like atmosphere for all.
The tomato festival inspired by Spain’s iconic La Tomatina, will be organised by a Hyderabad based firm on May 11 at Experium Eco Park. Acknowledging past criticisms faced by similar events, the organisers have emphasized their commitment to sustainability. They announced that all tomato waste generated during the festival will be repurposed into manure to enrich the event grounds.
The concept of La Tomatina gained widespread recognition in India following its portrayal in the 2011 Bollywood film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Since then, it has captured the imagination of Indians seeking unique and unconventional forms of entertainment. However, such events have not been without controversy—most notably in 2013, when a proposed La Tomatina-style event faced strong opposition, prompting an online petition by netizens.
With assurances of both fun and eco-conscious practices, the “Tomato Battle” aims to create a blend of excitement and responsibility. Enthusiasts of quirky festivities can look forward to this vibrant celebration. The ticketed event promises a unique blend of thrill, music, and tomato-fuelled revelry.
