Hyderabad wakes up to chilly ‘good mornings’

As winter takes hold, Hyderabad is waking up to chilly mornings with temperatures dipping to around 11.7°C in some areas. The city has seen a significant drop in temperatures over the past week, with the coldest spots being near BHEL and Rajendranagar, where the mercury has fallen to 11.7°C and 11.8°C respectively.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the cold spell will peak in the next few days before gradually rising due to Cyclone Fengal. Residents are advised to bundle up and prepare for colder mornings ahead.

Comparing this year’s winter to last year’s, Hyderabad experienced milder temperatures around this time, with minimum temperatures hovering around 15°C. The sudden drop this year has caught many residents by surprise, prompting them to take extra precautions to stay warm.

Shift in wind patterns

Local meteorologists attribute the colder weather to a shift in wind patterns and the influence of Cyclone Fengal, which is expected to bring some relief in the coming days. Despite the chill, the city’s vibrant atmosphere remains undeterred, with people finding creative ways to keep warm, from sipping hot chai to lighting up bonfires in their backyards.

As the city braces for the peak of the cold spell, health experts are urging residents to take care of their health, especially those with respiratory conditions. The drop in temperature can exacerbate such conditions, making it crucial to stay indoors and keep warm.

Overall, while the colder weather may be a challenge, it also brings a unique charm to the city, with the cooler mornings offering a refreshing change from the usual heat. Hyderabadis are known for their resilience and adaptability, and this winter is no exception.
