Household Plants to Tackle E-Wastes: Hyderabad Researchers’ breakthrough

Hyderabad: A pioneering study by a team of doctors and researchers from Hyderabad has revealed that common household plants can be effectively used to manage and extract toxic metals from E-waste.

Published in the International Journal of Scientific Research (IJSR) in November 2024, the study found that the money plant (Epipremnum aureum), desert rose (Adenium obesum), and various banyan species (Ficus microcarpa, bengalensis, religiosa) possess the ability to detoxify E-waste through phytoremediation.

The research, led by renowned sports medicine specialist Prof. Major S. Bhaktiyar Choudhary, spans two decades and investigates whether selected non-edible plants can absorb heavy metals from E-waste. Phytoremediation is a sustainable process where plants are used to extract and utilize toxic metals, preventing their harmful leachate into the soil.

These findings are significant because they offer an eco-friendly, cost-effective solution to the growing challenge of E-waste management in a technology-driven era. The study demonstrates that these readily available household plants can play a vital role in reducing environmental pollution and managing toxic waste. This innovative approach underscores the potential of using everyday plants to tackle complex environmental issues, opening new avenues for sustainable waste management practices.

  3. Things i have seen in terms of laptop or computer memory is the fact there are requirements such as SDRAM, DDR and so on, that must fit in with the specs of the mother board. If the personal computer’s motherboard is very current and there are no operating-system issues, updating the storage space literally will take under an hour. It’s one of many easiest laptop upgrade types of procedures one can think about. Thanks for revealing your ideas.
