GHMC cracks down on the corrupt, terminates 27 erring engineers

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has terminated the services of 27 outsourcing-based NAC engineers from its Town Planning Wing on charges of corruption and indiscipline. These engineers, appointed during the previous BRS government four years ago, were responsible for identifying illegal constructions in their respective areas.

However, reports suggest that instead of reporting violations to section officers, the engineers allegedly demanded bribes from property owners to conceal irregularities. Taking swift action, GHMC Commissioner Ilambarithi ordered their immediate dismissal on Sunday, March 23. Officials have been directed to seize all documents, electronic gadgets, and SIM cards provided to the dismissed engineers and ensure compliance.

The terminated engineers include individuals from various zones, such as Kapra, Uppal, Hayath Nagar, L.B. Nagar, Saroor Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Karwan, Kukatpally, Qutbullahpur, Gajularamaram, Alwal, and Malkajgiri. Notable names among those dismissed are E.M. Miriam, K. Yogeshwar Rao, Voruganti Ashwini, and others.

This action is considered a pointer to GHMC’s commitment to rooting out graft while ensuring accountability within its ranks. The move has sent a strong message about the importance of integrity in public service.
