Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat has called on every Indian family to have at least three children, warning that a declining population could lead to the extinction of society. Speaking at the ‘Kathale Kul Sammelan’ in Nagpur, Bhagwat emphasized the importance of maintaining a population growth rate of at least 2.1 to ensure societal survival.
Bhagwat pointed out that the current population policy, established around 1998 or 2002, highlighted the need to maintain a growth rate of 2.1. He stressed that if the growth rate falls below this threshold, society could face extinction, leading to the disappearance of languages and cultures. “Every family is a unit of society. A declining population is a cause for concern. If the growth rate is less than 2.1, society will vanish. No one needs to destroy it; it will destroy itself. Languages will disappear, and culture will perish. Every couple should have at least three children,” Bhagwat stated.
He further explained that population science supports the need for a higher number of children to ensure the survival of society. Bhagwat also highlighted the importance of population control and religious demographics, stating that both aspects cannot be ignored. He reiterated his stance from a previous Dussehra rally in Nagpur, where he emphasized the need for a new population policy that applies to all communities and addresses the imbalance in population growth among different groups.
