Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma dismissed the Maoists’ conditions, emphasizing that talks must align with constitutional values. “We are ready for dialogue 24/7, but there’s no war-like situation to justify their ceasefire demands,” Sharma said, urging Maoists to surrender under the state’s rehabilitation policy.
The operation was bolstered by advanced surveillance tactics, including satellite imagery and drones deployed to track Maoist movements. Strategic reinforcements replaced fatigued troops to sustain the momentum of the campaign. Unconfirmed reports suggest nearly 30 Maoists were killed in fierce gun battles, but official statements are yet to verify these figures.
The insurgency, which began in 1967 with the Naxalbari uprising, reached its peak in the late 2000s, affecting nearly 180 districts. The Modi government, as announced by Home Minister Amit Shah, is firm on addressing the insurgency by 2026.Shah has declared that the number of LWE-affected districts has now come down to only six.
