American Ganja smuggled to Hyderabad

In a significant crackdown, Hyderabad police have apprehended a software engineer involved in the illegal sale of foreign ganja. The Excise Task Force arrested the suspect, identified as Shivaram, a software engineer at Deloitte in Bengaluru, at Prashanthi Hills, Timber Lake Valley in Gachibowli. Authorities seized 170 grams of foreign ganja, 1 kilogram of local ganja, a bike, and a cellphone from his possession.

Investigations revealed that Shivaram was smuggling ganja from California, USA, and selling it in Hyderabad. He was operating alongside another software engineer, Ajay, who is currently absconding. The duo was reportedly conducting their illegal business every weekend, supplying local ganja purchased in Bengaluru and transported to Hyderabad via private buses.

The police are actively searching for Ajay and are investigating the network to identify other individuals involved in the racket. It has also come to light that the foreign ganja was being supplied to individuals in the film industry.

This bust highlights the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the city and the efforts of law enforcement to curb such illegal activities.
