New Delhi: As part of Operation Sindoor, India conducted strikes on nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as retaliation to deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The operation was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, targeting terrorist camps in locations like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.
Indian authorities emphasized that the strikes were precise and did not target Pakistani military facilities. Pakistan condemned the operation, claiming civilian casualties and warning of retaliation. India has briefed international allies about the operation, citing intelligence that linked the Pahalgam attack to groups based in Pakistan. A full briefing on the strikes is expected later today.
The Indian Armed Forces involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, executed the strikes early on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure responsible for orchestrating attacks against India. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory, ensuring that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted.
Nine locations hit
The strikes successfully hit nine locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad, known to house terrorist training camps and launch pads. Intelligence reports confirmed that these sites were actively involved in planning and directing attacks against India.
The Indian Army, in a statement, declared “Justice is served”, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to holding terror perpetrators accountable. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed the sentiment, posting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” on social media.
Pakistan’s Response
Pakistan has condemned the strikes, calling them an “unprovoked act of war, and has vowed to respond at a time and place of its choosing. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry claimed that civilian casualties occurred, though India has maintained that the operation was precisely targeted at terrorist infrastructure.
Global Reactions
India has briefed key international allies, including the United States, on the operation, citing credible intelligence linking the Pahalgam attack to Pakistan-based terrorist groups.
