Hyderabad: In a decisive move reflecting intensified national security concerns, the Indian government has revoked all visas issued to Pakistanis, except for medical visas, effective April 27, 2025. This directive follows a recent decision by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of broader measures to address potential security vulnerabilities.
The CCS’s directive has prompted authorities across the country to conduct thorough verifications of Pakistani nationals currently residing in India on various types of visas, including long-term, short-term, medical, and business visas.
Hyderabad alone accounted for 208 Pakistani nationals, with 156 holding long-term visas, 13 on short-term visas, and 39 on medical or business visas. In Uttar Pradesh, approximately 1,800 Pakistani nationals were reported to be on different visas.
Special Branch officials have completed meticulous checks to identify and confirm the presence of Pakistani nationals. Following the reviews, the government has instructed all affected individuals to leave India before their visas’ expiration dates. Medical visas remain valid until April 29, 2025, to ensure critical health services are not disrupted.
The move comes in the backdrop of heightened alerts and security measures to safeguard public safety and preempt any potential threats. Officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation.
As the deadline approaches, this development underscores India’s commitment to reinforcing its national security framework while addressing regional challenges.
