Kancha Gachi Bowli Row: Dia Mirza Refutes Telangana CM’s Allegations

Hyderabad: Bollywood actress and environmental activist Dia Mirza has strongly denied allegations made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding her use of AI-generated images and videos in support of student protests at Kancha Gachibowli. The protests aim to protect the biodiversity of a 400-acre land parcel that the state government plans earlier to auction for urban development.

In a statement shared on social media, Dia Mirza addressed the CM’s claims, calling them “absolutely false.” She wrote, “The CM of Telangana posted a tweet yesterday. He made certain claims about the situation at Kancha Gachibowli. One of them was that I had used FAKE AI-generated images/videos in support of the protest by students to protect biodiversity on the 400 acres of land the government wanted to auction.”

Joining issue with the Chief Minister, she said “this is an absolutely false statement. I have not posted a single image or video that is AI generated. The media and the Telangana government should verify their facts before making such claims.” The controversy stems from ongoing protests led by students of the University of Hyderabad and environmental activists.

They all opposed the government’s proposal to auction the ecologically sensitive land for IT and urban infrastructure projects. The issue has sparked widespread debate, with petitions filed in both the Telangana High Court and the Supreme Court to halt the proposed development.

Dia Mirza, known for her commitment to environmental causes, emphasized the importance of protecting biodiversity and urged the government and media to fact-check before making accusations. Her response has garnered significant support online, with many applauding her for standing firm against misinformation.

The situation at Kancha Gachibowli continues to draw national attention, highlighting the growing tension between development and environmental conservation.
