Amaravati: A major fire erupted at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat’s Block 2 on Friday morning, causing panic among the employees. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated in an area where batteries are stored.
Upon receiving the alert from the SPF staff, the fire safety personnel rushed to the scene. Efforts were promptly made to contain the flames, and the fire safety team successfully brought the fire under control. Authorities are currently investigating whether the incident was accidental or if there is any possibility of foul play.
Block 2 of the Secretariat houses the offices of key government officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Municipal Administration Minister Narayana, and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita.
Fortunately, since the fire occurred in the early hours of the morning, no staff members were inside the premises at the time of the incident. Detailed reports and further information regarding the fire are awaited.
