Amaravati: In response to the severe drought conditions experienced last year, the Andhra Pradesh government has taken a critical step to address the issue. Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu has focused on alleviating the struggles faced by farmers and the general public.
The Revenue Department Special Chief Secretary R.P. Sisodia issued a formal notification (on March 31, 2025) declaring 51 mandals across the state as drought-affected. Of these, 37 mandals have been identified as suffering from severe drought conditions, while 14 mandals are classified as moderately affected. This declaration pertains to the Rabi season of 2024-25.
This move is seen as a major step toward providing relief and support to the affected regions. It reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the hardships of farmers, who have been significantly impacted by the drought. Measures are expected to follow, aimed at ensuring assistance reaches those in need, mitigating the adverse effects of water scarcity, and facilitating recovery in these areas.
