Hyderabad: A big controversy simmers in Telugu film industry following remarks made by Tollywood producer Sreenivasa Kumar (SKN), at the pre-release event of the film “Dragon.” During the event, SKN made a statement that has left fans of Telugu-speaking heroines in an uproar.
While welcoming actress Kayadu Lohar, SKN said, “Welcome to Telugu. We encourage non-Telugu-speaking heroines rather than Telugu-speaking heroines.” He further added, “I learned what happens if we encourage Telugu-speaking girls as heroines.” Many believe this comment was a veiled reference to Vaishnavi Chaitanya, who starred in SKN’s blockbuster “Baby.”
The producer’s remarks have sparked widespread debate, with many questioning his narrative and reasoning. Fans of Telugu-speaking heroines are voicing their discontent, arguing that it is high time the concerns raised by SKN’s comments are addressed by the industry.
As the controversy continues to unfold, the anticipation around the release of “Dragon” remains high. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the Tamil coming-of-age comedy-drama stars Pradeep Ranganathan, Anupama Parameshwaran, and Kayadu Lohar, with notable performances by Gautham Vasudev Menon, K.S. Ravikumar, and George Maryan.
The film, co-written by Pradeep Ranganathan and produced by AGS Entertainment, features music composed by Leon James and is set for a worldwide release on February 21. The Telugu film industry and its dedicated fanbase eagerly await a clarification from SKN on his controversial remarks, as discussions and debates continue to rage on social media and within industry circles.
