Hyderabad: In a progressive move towards gender inclusivity, the Telangana government has initiated a program to employ transgender individuals as traffic assistants in Hyderabad. The Recruitment Drive

The special recruitment drive, conducted at Goshamahal Police Grounds, saw the selection of 44 transgender candidates from a pool of 58 participants. These candidates underwent rigorous physical tests, including an 800-meter run, long jump, and shot put, to ensure they were fit for the role. The selected candidates, aged between 18 and 40, had to meet the basic requirement of passing the SSC examination and residing within the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits.

Official Endorsements

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, C.V. Anand, welcomed the newly recruited traffic assistants, encouraging them to serve as role models within their community. He emphasized that their participation in such roles would not only help manage traffic efficiently but also promote social acceptance and break stereotypes.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy initiated this recruitment drive as a part of his broader vision for inclusivity and equal opportunities. He believes that providing formal recognition and employment to transgender individuals is a significant step towards a more inclusive society.

Pilot Program
